Terms of Use

1. What Truism is

Truism is an evidence-led news platform combining AI-assisted newsroom processes, human editorial oversight, third-party and public sources, and community contributions. Living Events can change as new evidence emerges. Statuses such as Known, Developing and Disputed describe the current evidence assessment and are not guarantees that information will never change.

2. News accuracy and evolving events

Truism aims to present information responsibly and to make evidence and source context visible. News develops rapidly, and information can be incomplete, conflicting, incorrectly reported by sources, incorrectly submitted by contributors, or incorrectly processed or published by Truism. Truism does not guarantee that every event, claim, summary, status, date, location or other item will always be complete, current or error-free.

To the extent permitted by law, The Truism and its operators are not liable for loss or damage arising solely from reliance on news, community reports, evidence, summaries or other informational content published on the platform, including content that later proves to be inaccurate or incomplete. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

You should independently verify information before making important personal, financial, legal, medical, safety or other consequential decisions. Truism content is general information and news, not professional advice.

3. Corrections and challenges

You can challenge claims, add evidence, and use the available reporting and contact mechanisms to identify potential errors. Truism may correct, update, reclassify, merge, remove or archive content as evidence changes, and handles corrections transparently where appropriate. 4. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate, for the security of your credentials, and for activity under your account. Truism may suspend or restrict accounts for abuse, security, legal or integrity reasons.

5. Community contributions

Only submit content you reasonably believe is genuine. You must not knowingly submit false or misleading information, impersonate others, harass, threaten, defame, doxx, unlawfully discriminate, spam, manipulate evidence, interfere with the service, or publish unlawful content. Reports about identifiable people, alleged wrongdoing, minors or victims, and other sensitive matters may be held, rejected or escalated for review.

6. Evidence and media rights

You must have the rights and permissions needed for any content you upload. Uploading content does not transfer ownership to Truism. You grant Truism a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, reproduce as technically necessary, moderate, analyse and display your contribution for the purposes of operating, verifying and presenting Truism, subject to your privacy settings and applicable law.

Third-party material must not be uploaded or reproduced without the necessary rights; links may be used instead where appropriate. Truism currently publishes stories using its own graphic and evidence cards rather than third-party imagery, and that policy is unaffected by these Terms.

7. Moderation and editorial discretion

Truism may review, label, hold, reject, remove, merge, edit, summarise or restrict contributions and Living Events in order to operate the service, protect users, enforce these Terms, respond to evidence, comply with law, or maintain editorial integrity. Not every submission will be published.

8. Intellectual property

Truism branding, software, original graphics, design and original platform content are protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may share Truism stories using the functionality provided, but you may not scrape, republish commercially, misrepresent, remove attribution from, or otherwise exploit protected material beyond permitted or lawful use without permission.

9. Third-party sources and links

Truism references external sources and websites it does not control. A link or citation does not necessarily constitute endorsement. The availability, content, privacy practices and conduct of third parties are their responsibility.

10. Service availability and changes

Truism may change, suspend or discontinue features, and cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, The Truism and its operators are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss or damage arising solely from reliance on informational content published on the platform. Where our liability can be limited rather than excluded, it is limited to resupplying the relevant service or the reasonable cost of doing so. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, subject to any mandatory laws that apply based on your location. Disputes are subject to courts with appropriate jurisdiction.
