Canada's retaliatory tariffs on US goods officially take effect
The trade war between the US and Canada has escalated after Canada's dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs on $20 billion of US goods officially took effect on September 8. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated Canada would move faster to reduce its reliance on the U.S., while Donald Trump continues to threaten auto tariffs and a renaming of Lake Ontario.
